About BVG

In 2013, Black Girls Volley was created to help girls of color navigate the world of recreational and competitive volleyball. Now a community of girls, young women, parents, coaches and sports enthusiasts, this site and our social media platforms (Black Girls Volley on Twitter, Black Girls Volley on Facebook, and Black Girls Volley on Instagram) continues to educate and unite black girls who “volley.”

Teshia Briscoe Birts established Black Girls Volley. She was inspired by her older daughter, Teia, then re-inspired by her younger daughter, Sabrina – both of whom have played this awesome sport at varying levels for a combined 18 years.
